Position Summary:
Reporting to the Head of School, the Middle and Senior School Director will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and holistic success of students and faculty in grades 7-11. This role requires an educational leader who can effectively manage diverse responsibilities that positively impact the students, faculty, and school community at large. The Director will contribute to the school's strategic vision to ensure vertical, horizontal, and cross-disciplinary alignment of programs, ultimately fostering exceptional student experiences through the application of current best practices.
Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership
Provide leadership and mentorship to faculty and staff, fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement, professional growth, and effective performance management, to ensure high standards of teaching and learning are achieved.
Work collaboratively with all members of the Senior Leadership to uphold the mission, vision, and values of the school.
Collaborate with the Pedagogical Team to build out the future Grade 12 programme.
Attend school functions, events, and other duties as required.
Curriculum Development & Implementation
- Provide leadership in the development and implementation of a dynamic curriculum that integrates innovative teaching methodologies, technology, and interdisciplinary approaches, while ensuring compliance with AP and Ministère de l'Éducation du Québec requirements.
- Oversee and coordinate the key academic operations, including elective course management, exam schedules, workload management and curriculum information.
- Assist and support faculty in integrating meaningful assessments aligned with curriculum goals and learning outcomes.
Student Success
Provide comprehensive support for students' academic and personal growth, serving as an approachable mentor.
Work closely with faculty, members of the Pedagogical Team and the School Counsellor to identify and address student challenges, providing guidance and resources.
Foster strong parent partnerships by maintaining open communication, promptly addressing inquiries and feedback, and providing regular updates through meetings, emails, and reports.
Overseeing/coordinating progress and term reporting periods and parent-teacher interview sessions, including leading the review and analysis of report card content, scheduling and related communications.
Analyze student achievement data to identify trends, inform curriculum adjustments, and support interventions.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or a related field.
Proven experience in educational leadership roles, preferably in middle and senior school settings.
Experience with the Ministère de l'Éducation's requirements.
Knowledge of best practices in teaching, assessment, and differentiated instruction.
Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional strategies, workload management, exam scheduling, report card evaluations, and fostering student success.
Effective organizational, managerial, and interpersonal skills.
Strong ability to build rapport with students, cultivating a supportive and inclusive environment.
Excellent communication abilities, written and verbal in English and French, with an emphasis on engaging with parents.
Experience in data-driven decision-making to support curriculum planning and student success.
Passion for educational innovation, student-centred learning, and faculty development.
